Listening to Luna: Working With the Energy of the Virgo New Moon

Idk how this most recent eclipse season arrived for you, but for me it was emotional, revelatory, messy, and full of surrender. 🥴

Eclipses sure have a way of excavating our lives!! They show us what we couldn’t (or wouldn’t) see before, and demand us to loosen our grip on what we’ve been trying to control.

Sometimes they even leave us standing in the middle of our own lives, looking around at everything that has been uncovered, counting up the casualties and taking stock in what’s still standing.

Anyone else??

Lucky for us, this Virgo New Moon arrives like a breath of fresh air carrying a clip board. She helps us to sort out the devotion from the depletion, and asks us to look at what is in front of us and consider: What is working? What isn’t? What could work better? Where is energy being wasted, and why are we still doing that?

There is something beautifully detached about this, because it gives us just enough breathing room, that we can actually finally see clearly after all the eclipse carnage has settled.

Virgo invites us to step back from the emotional charge of everything and look at our lives with discernment. Where is my time going? Where is my attention going? Is that actually supporting the life I am creating, and what deserves more of me?

I’ve been thinking of this as a season for editing my life. But that doesn’t mean tearing everything apart and starting over. A good editor notices what is already working and leaves it alone. She notices what is almost right and refines it. She notices what is taking up space without contributing to the larger story and considers whether it still belongs, because she understands the vision of what the piece is trying to become.

I think that’s where discernment becomes such a gift. When we know what we’re building, we can become more intentional about what we build it with: the habits we practice, the commitments we make, the places we put our energy, and the people we build alongside.

We can look at all of it and ask a remarkably simple question: Does this support the life I am creating?

If the answer is no, we don’t necessarily have to make it wrong. We don’t have to judge it, resent it, or create an elaborate story about why it shouldn’t be there. Maybe we simply recognize that we don’t want to keep building with it.

There is something so serpentine about that kind of discernment. A snake outgrows it’s skin because it belonged to a past version of itself. It served its purpose. When it no longer fits, the snake sheds it and keeps moving.

Maybe refinement can sometimes be that simple. Not everything that leaves our lives has to leave through fire, and not every change requires an ending dramatic enough to justify it. Sometimes we simply recognize that something isn’t working anymore.

The Virgo New Moon is a perfect opportunity to take a breath and be honest with yourself about what works for you. And it’s a beautiful moment to become much more intentional about what you’re growing from here. 🌻

As always – this is an invitation, not an assignment.🖤 But if you’re doing the work along with me, here are some journal prompts to spend some time with:

🌑 What is working in my life, and what could use refinement?

🌑 What am I ready to become more selective about?

🌑 What habit or practice would better support the life I am creating?

I’d love to hear how this Virgo New Moon showing up for you?!

As usual, I’m writing this from a place of what I’m currently living through myself. And I’m taking stock in a lot of areas in my life, including right here, in this space. I’ve been looking closely at what I’m creating and what I want to give my energy to. Changes are coming in this arena too.

💗Big Love & Many Blessings🌸
